Drumming at Dekmantel Festival 2017
As part of the Dekmantel Festival, Slagwerk Den Haag played an ‘all-Reich-program’ in presence of and together with the meastro-composer self.
Contemporary avant garde and minimalist composer Steve Reich is one the true masters of our time. The genius behind ‘Music for 18 Musicians’ was teaming up with contemporary Dutch percussion outfit Slagwerk Den Haag for renditions of ‘Drumming’, the 90-minute composition built around his fondness for phasing in addition to 'Clapping Music'. This was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to catch the two perform together, as the Dutch outfit got to play with the artist responsible for so much of their inspiration for the second time.
